Marijuana use legalized in 3 US states

Colorado on Tuesday became the first US state to approve a proposal to legalize marijuana, including for recreational use, with Washington state appearing set to follow suit, according to US media.

The western state, one of three voting on the measure, voted by 52.7 percent in favor to 47.3 percent against, according to the Denver Post, with over 50 percent of votes counted. CNN gave 53 percent for with 47 percent against.

A number of US states have legalized the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes, but Colorado, Oregon and Washington state all voted Tuesday on legalizing recreational use as well.

In Washington state 55 percent of voters backed the move, with 45 percent against, according to CNN and NBC, citing figures with 50 percent of votes counted.

In Oregon voters appeared set to reject the proposal, with 55 percent against and 45 percent in favor, according to CNN, with 47 percent of votes counted.

28 licensees lack capacity to operate refineries –Presidential panel

The Dr. Kalu Idika Kalu-led National Refineries Special Task Force has said that 28 out of the 35 investors given licences by the Federal Government to establish refineries in the country lack the capacity to do so.

This was contained in the committee’s report presented to President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday by the committee’s alternate chairman, Mallam Yusuf Ali.

“We have examined 35 people who have applied, who were given licences to operate refineries; unfortunately, we examined and we found only seven that may be capable of setting up refineries,” Ali said.

He said to ensure self-sufficiency in petroleum products’ production; the country needed three more refineries that should be established either by the government or private investors.

The refineries, he added, should be established in Lagos, Bayelsa and Kogi states.

Ali said, “We have also made a recommendation that there is a need to have three more refineries in the country. We suggested the biggest refinery should be sited in Lagos, the medium size should be sited in Bayelsa; another small size refinery be sited in Kogi State.

“So, we have recommended the setting up of three refineries, either by the government or anybody as soon as possible.”

The committee also suggested the immediate privatisation of existing refineries in the country, which should be done within 18 months.

It, however, warned that the interest of Nigerians must be considered in the process of privatising the refineries.

Ali said, “We should not sell everything to foreigners. Government must have some shares in those privatised refineries.

“Eventually, those shares held by the government should be sold to Nigerians on the stock exchange when the time comes so that every Nigerian who has N20 or N30 will be proud to say they have shares in these refineries.”

The committee also made a case for the privatisation of petroleum pipelines and depots.

It also called for increased security of the refineries to safeguard them and the refined products.

“We sincerely believe that if these steps are taken, shortages of petroleum products, black marketing and so on will be a thing of the past,” Ali said.

Also, the Mr. Dotun Suleiman-led Task Force on Governance and Control has suggested the establishment of six industry institutions in the post-Petroleum Industry Bill era.

Suleiman listed the institutions to include the National Petroleum Directorate, Nigerian Petroleum Inspectorate, Petroleum Asset Management Company, National Oil Company, Nigeria Content and Capacity Development Agency and National Frontier Exploration Services Unit.

With Anti-Christ tendencies, can Barack Obama be trusted? Written by Femi Fani-Kayode

You guys need to read this. Written by Femi Fani-Kayode, a two time former Minister and Special Adviser under the Olusegun Obasanjo government

Why is it that each time Barack Obama is about to submit himself for a Presidential election and seek a mandate from his people there is a raging, monumental, earth-shattering and record-breaking freak of a storm which kills numerous people in America? It happened a few days before his Presidential election in 2008 and it is has just happened again a few days before his Presidential election in 2012. Again why is it that on the first day of the convention of the opposition Republican party, both in 2008 and again this year, yet another violent and dangerous killer storm hit the towns in which the two conventions were held causing them both to be partially disrupted? What is Obama’s relationship with the elemental forces? What is his relationship with God or some lesser deity? What is his source of power and what is his spiritual foundation?
I'm a huge Barack Obama supporter so I kinda find this article shallow. You read it and tell us what you think...See the full article after the cut...

The American Presidential elections will take place in a few days time and frankly some questions still need to be answered. I wish that Governor Mitt Romney had put one of those questions particularly to President Barack Hussein Obama during their last Presidential debate which was on foreign policy. Permit me to put that question here and it is as follows. Why did the President bow so low before Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah four years ago during his first state visit to the Arab Gulf state and why did he feel the need to almost touch his toes with his forehead when he did so. It is a matter of historical record that no American President in the last 200 years has ever bowed so low before any foreign leader, Prime Minister, Head of State, President or monarch. It appears to me to be rather strange that Obama, on his first trip to the Middle East as President of the most powerful country on the planet, should literally prostrate before an Arab King whose country has an abominable record on human rights, civil liberties, the rights of women and religious minorities and where the system of government is a totalitarian and absolute monarchy. Luckily a picture was taken of that celebrated event and that picture really does tell us something about the American President’s mindset. Yet it does not stop there.

On that same trip four years ago, after leaving Saudi Arabia, Obama toured the greater part of the Middle East and Egypt and in speech after speech he apologised to the Arabs for American policy in the Middle East over the previous 50 years. He did this despite the fact that in most of those countries christians, shia muslims and ethnic minorities have no rights at all and even though they have been killed, persecuted and supressed for many decades. Again he did this even though none of those countries were democracies and even though all of them, except for two, have refused to acknowledge the right of the Jewish State of Israel to even exist. This left a bad taste in the mouth of many at the time and the question that came to my mind was whether the ”Hussein” was coming out of the ”Barak Hussein Obama” more than the ”Barak” itself was. Yet whatever anyone may feel about the issue of his touching his toes with his head and his bowing before the Saudi king, as far as I am concerned, President Obama is not what he appears to be. There is far more to him than meets the eye. A couple more questions will suffice to illustrate this point.

Why is it that each time Barak Obama is about to submit himself for a Presidential election and seek a mandate from his people there is a raging, monuemental, earth-shattering and record-breaking freak of a storm which kills numerous people in America? It happened a few days before his Presidential election in 2008 and it is has just happened again a few days before his Presidential election in 2012. Again why is it that on the first day of the convention of the opposition Republican party, both in 2008 and again this year, yet another violent and dangerous killer storm hit the towns in which the two conventions were held causing them both to be partially disrupted? What is Obama’s relationship with the elemental forces? What is his relationship with God or some lesser deity? What is his source of power and what is his spiritual foundation? There is no doubt that he is a powerful orator and that he delivers brilliant speeches that mesmerises his audience. Yet so did Adolf Hitler and we all know what he was. I ask these questions because President Obama has supported every anti-christian and anti-faith policy that the American permissive state has thrown up and endorsed in recent years. The violation and literal denunciation of these religious core values, in my view, betrays the unfolding of an illicit, dark, sinister and subterranean anti-Christ agenda which must be rejected by all true men and women of faith. They must be renounced by every christian, every jew and every muslim and indeed all those that truly espouse the noble values and virtues of any of the three Abrahamic faiths. They must be rejected by all those that believe in the supremacy and efficacy of a monotheic God whose core values and holistic principles and standards are worthy of emulation and of being respected and cherished. There are many examples of these gross violations of our core religious values but permit me to share just four of them with you here. Firstly, President Obama has endorsed a woman’s right to have an abortion and he has publically denounced ”the right to life” of unborn babies. Secondly, he has endorsed same-sex marriages. Thirdly, he has consistently supported homosexuality and the rights of homosexuals and lesbians. And fourthly, and perhaps the most disturbing of all, he has endorsed the right of same-sex couples to adopt and raise children. Quite apart from these four Obama has also endorsed all manner of social perversions and deviant behaviour in the name of humanism, ”new age” liberalism and the permissive American state. No true believer or person of faith can possibly accept such practices, endorse such values and still stand right before God.

To put the cake on the icing let me make one more point. Rev. Jene Robinson, a vocal and practising homosexual, whose ordination as a Bishop split the Anglican Church in America into two, was specially selected by Obama to deliver the invocation of the name of God and prayers at the beginning of the inaugral weekend of his inauguration ceremony as President in 2008. What message was Obama trying to send to America and to the world by insisting on this?

Outside of the area of social and religious values President Obama has also failed in the area of foreign and domestic policy. A few examples will suffice. The unprecedented number of drone attacks in Pakistan and Afghanistan which has led to record highs in the number of deaths of innocent muslim civilians, women and children in both countries. The alienation of Pakistan and Afghanistan as key allies in the war against terror. The destabilization of north Africa and the opening of the door for Islamist insurgents in the north African Arab Sahel states and the west African sub-region. The display of weakness and procrastination before Iran and its covert agenda to build a nuclear bomb. The display of double standards in the State of Bahrain and the over-pampering of the Arab Gulf states. The sheer mess that has been created in Syria and the indecision and procrastination of the Obama administration who have abandoned the opposition forces in that country even as thousands of innocent people are being slaughtered by Assad’s brutal regime. The insincerity of purpose and sheer coldness being displayed towards Israel and the indifference to her dangerous and existential plight. The disdain and contempt shown to all people of faith, the evangelical movement, the christian far-right and the vision of the old Pilgrim Fathers that founded the great country that is known as the United States of America.

The removal of the words “God” and “Israel” from the Democratic Party Convention. The disastrous handling of the American economy that has acquired a five trillion dollar deficit in the last four years. The rise of Islamic fundamentalism in Mali and Nigeria due to a shortsighted and reckless policy in Libya. The taking of power by the fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and the rise in power of Al Shabbab in Somalia and East Africa. The inexplicable refusal to declare Boko Haram (the Islamist terror group that is bombing and killing thousands in northern Nigeria) as a terrorist organisation. The gradual turning of America into a quasi- welfarist state where ”big government” reigns and in which the traditional engine room of growth that is known as the American middle class is being systematically weakened and destroyed. The desecration of the traditional family unit and good old fashioned christian values by the adoption of strange and liberal “new age” practices, values and philosophies. The inability to protect the lives of American diplomats living abroad and the lack of firm reprisals after the killing of the American Ambassador and other Americans by terrorists in Libya. The massive foreign debt that America has acquired in the last four years. The huge quantum of cash that America is is now owing China and so on and so forth.

These are just some of Obama’s disastarous legacies and sadly the mistakes he has made in his foreign policy in north Africa particularly impacts on us directly in Nigeria and in Weet Africa. Let me give you just one example of that. Had it not been for the fall-out of the mess in Libya and the brutal way in which Muammar Ghadaffi, the Libyan leader, was murdered in cold blood one year ago, his Taureg friends and allies in north Africa would not have been inspired and driven to take over northern Mali and create a Taliban-style islamic fundamentalist state there and northern Nigeria would not have been flooded with jihadist footsoldiers and all manner of sophisticated arms and bombing devices for usage by Boko Haram.

With Obama all we see and hear are beautiful and inspirational speeches, a good deal of doublespeak, a failed economic policy and a weak, dangerous and thoroughly uninspiring foreign policy. Worst still all we see in Obama’s African policy is unpredictability, chaos, the appeasement of terrorists and utter confusion. Given this I cannot come to any other conclusion than the fact that President Barrack Hussein Obama cannot be trusted with America or indeed the world for the next four years. In my view he is a very mysterious, strange and complex man and sadly he has proved to be a thoroughly disappointing President. Consequently my prayer is that Governor Mitt Romney defeats him in the Presidential election which will hold Tuesday 6th November. If he does not I fear that the much predicted “beginning of the end” of America as a world economic power may have just begun. With China on the rise, Russia waxing strong, Brazil, India and Japan flexing their muscles and the European Union finally beginning to take shape and find her feet, in the next twenty years the world will be a very different place and America may no longer be “prima inter pares” (the first amongst equals). Only Romney can stop that downward trend. I am aware of the fact that, given Obama’s ancestry, this may not be a popular position to take amongst those of us that are people of colour and that are Africans but nevertheless it is still my position. I may be wrong but at least I have provided some food for thought. God bless America.

Why ladies Must Stop Wearing Tight Panties

For women, it is almost a must to wear panties. While some go for loose panties, a large number go for tight-fitting ones just to give a sex appeal!

If only they knew that tight undergarments pose a danger to one’s health. Some studies have shown that tight briefs in particular are actually harmful to the human body. Tight panties? Dangerous to health. How?

First, tight briefs disrupt the lymphatic system, which removes wastes and toxins from the entire body, and causes wastes and toxins not to be properly removed from the body. This is dangerous!

A potential con of wearing tight underwear, especially for women, is the increased likelihood of developing yeast infection or urinary tract infection. How does this come about? Just wear tight panties and you will discover that your vagina does not breathe well. So, it is better to choose a size that follows your body’s contours perfectly, but not tight.

To ensure the health of the genitals, doctors typically recommend wearing breathable, somewhat loose undergarments that absorb moisture well.

Tight panties are less than ideal for sweat-inducing activities such as exercising or hiking. In addition to fostering an unpleasant odour, trapping sweat near your skin increases your risk of yeast infections and blistering along the pant seams.

When riding on a stationary bike or sitting on a weight bench, for example, it becomes difficult and risky when your panties glides off the surface designated for sitting. Even structures not intended for athletics, such as a plastic subway seat or a smooth park bench, become potential hazard against the friction-lacking texture of tight undergarments.

The other problem associated with women wearing tight panties is the irritating effect of the tight material against the skin. When a woman walks around all day wearing tight panties, the material rubs against the urethra and outer vaginal area creating areas of irritation and even small tears. These irritated areas can also be set-ups for infection. This can be a particular problem for women who are prone to vaginal or urinary tract infections.

According to health.com vaginal and urinary tract infections are not the only problem associated with wearing the wrong size of pants, they can irritate hemorrhoids and even cause anal lacerations. Even more risky is wearing it in hot weather. Sweating combined with the close contact of the material against the skin, creates the perfect environment for a vaginal yeast infection.

After removing your undergarments, do you observe red marks? If so, chances are, your undergarments are too tight for you, and really should be changed. Dump them out like last year’s new clothes, and find undergarments, which will hug you, and fit on properly instead of giving a tightening effect.

The less they are worn the better, but if you cannot wean them completely from your underwear drawer, at least wear them in moderation, bearing in mind that a urinary tract or yeast infection is not very sexy.

Staring At Breasts Is Good For Men's Health - Study

A study conducted last year revealed it is actually healthy to stare at a woman's breasts.

The study, which was documented over a five year period, involved 500 men - half of whom were encouraged to 'ogle women daily', and the other half were instructed to abstain from ogling.

The study's designer, German Gerontologist Dr. Karen Weatherby, concluded that men who stared at breasts more often showed lower rates of heart problems, a lower resting heart rate and lower blood pressure. Dr. Karen Weatherby recommended that "men stare at breasts for 10 minutes a day" to improve their heart health.

How to Find a Great Boyfriend

How to Find a Great Boyfriend:

So many boyfriends, so little time. Well, some girls are boyfriend magnets at least. The rest of us aren't so lucky. What is it about those girls who always seem to have a boyfriend? Not every guy is boyfriend material, so don't feel bad about letting a guy go if you don't see that potential in him.

Here are 7 tips on how you too can find a great boyfriend:

(1) Be open.
When searching for a guy to date and potentially be your boyfriend, keep yourself open. When talking to a guy, keep your body language "open."

Examples:

- Keep arms to your sides or moving during conversation, not crossed
- Make good eye contact and smile
- Expose your palms, or at the very least: don't clench your fists
- Cross legs only if you're wearing a skirt/dress. Otherwise, keep them parallel if they can be seen.
- Try to keep your head and eyes focused mainly on him. Looking away too much shows disinterest.
- Relax your face

(2) Learn the look across the room.
If you want a guy to approach you from across the room and he's not coming over, try looking at him until he sees you…as soon as you make eye contact, give a quick smile (couple seconds) and look away. Focus back on your friends and having fun. Repeat once or twice more at most. Apparently this is the oldest trick in the book!

(3) Develop confidence.
Confidence makes you sexy, more than any physical characteristic. If you don't feel confident about yourself and what you have to offer, fake it. You know the phrase "Fake it till you make it?" Works wonders with confidence. Act like you don't need a man, that you're having plenty of fun already, and the boys will notice. And by pretending to be confident, you'll attract situations which will increase your confidence.

(4) Be your best self.
If a guy's going to be your boyfriend down the line, you need to be yourself around him. Keep the lying to a minimum- but be your "best" self. Not the self that eats an entire carton of ice cream when you're sad, or the self that burps when no one's around…but your best put-together self. Trust me, trying to change your personality at first or straight up lying about your job or living situation doesn't work with guys in the long run. When this guy becomes your boyfriend, he's going to find out the truth. And then he'll think you should be institutionalized. Be yourself. You have a lot to offer.

(5) Let him chase you.
The majority of decent guys have a "desperation" warning alarm that sounds immediately if you give off the impression that you REALLY want a boyfriend. So cardinal rule: Don't be too available. Do not cancel plans you've already made to go out with a guy. Stick to your girls nights, and let him know that you're going out with the girls. A good boyfriend wants to see that you have friends and won't turn into a Stage 5 Cling-On as soon as he asks you to be his girlfriend.
Leave him wanting more every time you see him. Guys like to be able to chase you. If you're always available, he might get bored. A good boyfriend will also leave you wanting more, so every time you see each other it's new and exciting. You won't get bored with a guy like this.

(6) Reveal just enough on the first couple dates.

Don't spill your guts on the first date. Give him little tidbits of who you are…guys like a little mystery. Don't give him your whole life story in the first couple weeks. Make sure he sees your smile, your confidence and how much you like yourself on the first couple dates more than your past experiences. Talking about your childhood fears and what you like for breakfast comes later. Keep the conversation light, not delving too deeply into anything, so that he'll want to get to know you better as you keep dating.

(7) Let him do the work at first.
One of the first signs of a good boyfriend is when he steps up to the plate. Your job at that point is to let him be the guy. If he comes to your doorstep with a plan already hatched for what you'll do that night, great sign! Let him make the plans, and show him that you like that. Encouraging a guy to be the guy in a relationship will make your life a whole lot easier (and it'll make him a good boyfriend). If you try to take charge when you first start dating, it's either going to turn him off (if he's a very masculine guy) or it's going to intimidate him into bringing out his more feminine traits.

If you're really having trouble finding a good boyfriend…

Rely on your friends or acquaintances to hook you up with a guy! Guys who someone can vouch for might turn into better boyfriends than some random guy you pick up at a bar. At least you know somebody thinks he's a decent guy!

9 Things To Avoid After A Breakup

Breakups can be a very difficult experience. You’re crying, confused, and your heart feels like it’s in a million pieces. It’s not called heartbreak for nothing. But learn to let it go. The world has something better in store for you. But while you’re waiting here are 9 things you shouldn't do after a breakup.

Ready to hear them? Cool, let's go

#1. Don't Stalk him/her
You're way too smart to stalk him or her physically after your breakup. Of course you are...BUT...on social media? That's tempting. Facebook, Twitter, BBM(blackberry messenger), instagram, his/her blog. Never! Do you really want to torture yourself with each new female friend he adds and see cute little comments from babes/guys you know were interested in him/her in the past? You don't need to know where he or she's going or who he or she's going with. It hurts. Move on.

#2. Don't Stay friends
There is no way you can remain friends with an ex if you still have feelings for him. You can eventually be friends but not immediately after a breakup. Haba! Give yourself some time. Remaining friends only gives him/her permission to treat you like crap while he/she borrows money from you, has occasional sex with you when he can’t find anyone else, and sometimes lean on you for emotional support when he has a bad day! Accept the truth. He’s not going to change his mind and realize breaking up with you was a bad idea. He’s just going to use you until he finds someone to take your place. So please, DO NOT stay friends with him for now!

#3. Do not Isolate yourself
You're way too fabulous and amazing to be shut-in. Do not stay cooped inside your room all day with the blinds shut. You'll do yourself more harm than good. Get out! Go to the beach on its busiest days. (We have so many in Nigeria, especially in lagos). Attend events, not those emotional stage plays. Take some risks! Meet with some of your crazy energetic friends at the club. Wear red lipstick and some killer stillettos and work it because you can.

#4. Don't waste energy on revenge
Revenge is utter crap. Don't get even. Get over it.

#5. Do not tell "your story" to everyone
Almost everyone falls victim to this. Hold back. Don't tell everybody how you've been wronged. Boooooooooring! Save it. The longer you hold on to "your story" and keep soliciting sympathy, the longer it will take you to move forward...and we don't want your friends to dump you, too. (That doesn't mean you shouldn't talk to someone about it. The emphasis here is telling 'EVERYONE').

#6. Don't be "on the hunt"
Don't jump on the relationship bandwagon too soon. Contrary to the general belief, the best way to get over a guy/lady is not to date another one immediately. Take your time. Enjoy your new Freedom.

#7. Do not listen to 'Adele - Someone like you' on repeat
I guess that's self-explanatory.

#8. Don’t think your Facebook page is going to convince him to come back
I have a friend who made up a boyfriend just to make her ex jealous. She changed her status, her photos, she changed her BBM display picture and Facebook profile picture to her and a hot dude hugging tightly. But what did the ex think? When i asked him, i discovered he didn't even notice. So, yes, in most cases, it doesn't work.

#9. Do not turn to alcohol
Drowning our sorrows in bottles of beer can sometimes seem pretty appealing. The chances are, you’ll get drunk and then make one or more of the other mistakes on this list.

Your Laptop Could Be Cooking Your Sperm, Doctors Say

A couple who struggled to have a baby were stunned when doctors said their laptop was to blame.

Scott Reed was told having the appliance on his lap had caused heat damage to his sperm.

And, as a result, the 30-year-old electrician and his wife, Laura, also 30, were finding it harder to conceive.

Mr Reed started using his laptop on a table instead and three months later Mrs Reed became pregnant with baby daughter Taryn.

Mrs Reed said: ‘I’ve never heard of this happening before, when the doctors told us it was a real shock.

‘Scott would use his laptop in the evenings for a couple of hours on and off while we were watching television.

‘He would use it for work and general things like Facebook. We had absolutely no idea the damage it was causing him.’

The couple, from Clanfield in Hampshire, visited their GP after trying for a baby for six months without success.

Initially it was thought Mr Reed’s fertility had been affected by mumps – which he had suffered with at the age of 21.

Mrs Reed, a pathologist, said: ‘About six months after we started trying I was getting frustrated and mentioned it to my doctor.

‘You don’t think it will be that hard to get pregnant. We both went back to have a chat and the doctor put Scott forward for a fertility test.’

In October 2010 the couple were referred to the andrology department of the pathology unit at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth.

Mr Reed said: ‘Because I had the mumps I needed to get tested. We were concerned they would find something but then we wanted a baby so we had to find out.

‘I didn’t think about the worst-case scenario and just had to get on with it.’

Tests revealed Mr Reed was producing a healthy amount of sperm but they had suffered heat damage.

Under the microscope it was possible to see that the tail of the sperm had coiled around the head, meaning it couldn’t swim quickly to the egg.

The problem is common in chefs – who work in hot environments – but can also be caused by laptop computers.

Mr Reed said: ‘I never thought using a laptop would affect the quality of my sperm. After asking if I was a chef, the next thing was ‘do you use a laptop?’

‘I was using it daily and hadn’t given it a second thought. It was quite shocking really.’

After that Mr Reed made sure he placed his laptop either beside him or on a table.

Mrs Reed said: ‘We carried on trying and we weren’t having any luck. We thought it wasn’t going to happen so we started planning a trip to travel around Thailand. But then I did a test and found out I was expecting.’

Taryn, now 10 months, was born on December 8 last year.

Proud parent Mr Reed is now encouraging more men to be aware of the dangers of laptops – and not to be shy if they think there might be a problem with fertility.

He said: ‘Generally men clam up and don’t want to talk about anything to do with genitals. Don’t be scared of going through the process. I wanted children and so I got tested.’

Biomedical andrologist Sue Kenworthy, from Queen Alexandra Hospital, confirmed the heat of the laptop can have an effect on sperm.

She said: ‘Scott had been producing a healthy amount of sperm but looking under a microscope I saw that there was heat damage.

‘Scott was using his laptop every day and for a few hours. It would get really hot, which would have an effect on his sperm.

‘This showed up under the microscope. The tail of the sperm had coiled around the head.

‘This means it can’t swim quickly and get to the egg. I would say men should place the laptop on a table, rather than on their lap, as this can make a difference.’
